Ethical, Equitable, and Educational: the Three E’s of School Music License

by | Aug 21, 2023

Welcome to School Music License! If you have just purchased a license, or if you have questions about joining our service, the Three E’s are a great place to start.

Ethical

The first E is Ethical. In this digital age, copyright laws regarding streaming can be confusing and difficult to navigate. School Music License, LLC, is here to help. We simplify the process and equip K-12 schools here in the U.S., our License Holders, with permission to legally record, stream, and archive performances of the music our Member Organizations include on our service.

When your school secures an Annual Basic License, you are also actively ensuring that the composers and artists responsible for creating the music you use are being fairly compensated. These royalties provide the composers and artists you love even more incentive to continue making beautiful music!

Equitable

The second E is Equitable. We believe in meeting people where they are and that means offering an equitable pricing model based on both grade levels and school enrollment. This tiered model ensures that each school has fair and accessible pricing.

It is also important to us that purchasing a license is easy. There are no hidden costs, no fine print, just one annual fee. Schools can use as much or as little approved music as they would like, all for the same price. This allows schools to more easily budget for licensing fees instead of seeking new licensing for each concert or event.

Educational

The third and final E is Educational. We believe that schools and educators want to do the right thing but may not always know how. The educational benefits of School Music License are twofold. We seek to educate and equip those who utilize our licenses so they can better educate their students. This allows educators to spend less time on red tape and more time to focus on doing what they do best: Teaching!

Our friendly and knowledgeable License Holder Support Team has years of experience providing copyright support and helping teachers engage with their students in new and exciting ways. From concerts and recitals to pep rallies and parades, let our team help you do more with the music you love!

We look forward to connecting with you!
